A Tuscan-inspired residence on the north face of Awbrey Butte, where European warmth meets the Central Oregon high desert.
Drawn from the owners' travels in Europe, a Tuscan exterior that settles effortlessly into the high desert.
Perched on the northern face of Awbrey Butte with sweeping views of the Cascades, this home was shaped around a love of European architecture and an active Central Oregon life. A welcoming courtyard leads to a custom three-inch reclaimed-fir entry door, complete with a speakeasy, that opens into a great room anchored by a soaring twenty-two-foot wrap-around cement fireplace — industrial character meeting contemporary calm.
Inside, a minimalist palette of grays, blacks, and whites is warmed by Northwest wood tones and walls of glass. Infinity doors dissolve the line between the great room and a covered patio with a custom stone seat, water feature, and native plantings, while infrared heat keeps it all comfortable year-round. Elsewhere: an intimate four-seat theater, an eleven-foot single-slab island, and oversized garages built for the gear an outdoor life demands.
The owners managed much of the build from out of the area, relying on live job-site cameras and our project platform to stay close to every decision — proof that distance is no obstacle to a deeply personal home.
