Sunrise’s Guide to the

2026 COBA Tour of Homes

The official COBA Tour of Homes is one of Central Oregon’s best opportunities to experience new homes, thoughtful architecture, changing design ideas, and the craftsmanship behind the region’s residential building industry.

Sunrise is sitting out this year’s Tour—but not standing still. We’re already creating what comes next, and we look forward to welcoming you into another extraordinary Sunrise home next year.

Enjoy this year’s Tour

A Weekend for Ideas, Questions, and Possibility.

Every Tour of Homes offers something different. Some visitors come for architecture. Some come for kitchens, materials, lighting, and furnishing ideas. Others are trying to understand what they may want in a future home—or which builder feels right for them.

Take your time. Notice how each home responds to its property. Pay attention to what feels effortless, what feels thoughtful, and what you would change for the way you live.

Although Sunrise is not participating this year, the Tour remains an important part of Central Oregon’s building community, and we hope you enjoy every stop.

Tour the homes like a builder

Beautiful Finishes Catch Your Eye. The Details Tell the Whole Story.

A few things a builder notices in every home—offered so you can see more on your visit. None of this is a critique of the homes on Tour; it’s simply how we look at the work.

Craftsmanship

  • Consistent reveals
  • Tight trim joints
  • Drywall corners and transitions
  • Cabinet alignment
  • Tile layout
  • Paint finish
  • Millwork details
  • How materials meet each other

Design & Livability

  • Natural light at different times of day
  • Window placement and views
  • Room proportions
  • Kitchen workflow
  • Storage
  • Privacy
  • Indoor–outdoor connection
  • How people move through the home
  • Whether the home fits real daily life

Comfort & Performance

  • Heating and cooling approach
  • Register placement
  • Insulation
  • Window performance
  • Air sealing
  • Water management
  • Shading
  • Snow and freeze–thaw considerations
  • Long-term maintenance

Questions Worth Asking

  • What decision had the greatest impact on this home?
  • How did the property shape the floor plan?
  • What would the builder do differently on a similar project?
  • Which materials were chosen for durability, not just appearance?
  • How early were the architect, builder, and interior designer working together?
  • What was the most difficult part of the site?
  • How did the team manage budget decisions during design?
Why Sunrise has a builder’s eye

Recognized on the Tour. Built for Life Beyond It.

Awards matter because they reflect design, construction, collaboration, and execution coming together at a high level. But the real measure of a home is quieter: how well it serves the people who live there long after Tour weekend ends. That is the standard we build to.

And these awards are earned, not given. Every home on the Tour is judged in person by a rotating panel of industry peers—active and retired builders, Realtors, association board members, and other professionals—who weigh each home against the same exacting standards. It is not a gimme. Recognition on the COBA Tour has to be won under genuinely discerning eyes, and that scrutiny is exactly what makes it worth earning.

The Home Behind This Year’s Hero.

The photograph at the top of this page is the front entry of a Sunrise-built home at Caldera Springs, the forested resort community near Sunriver.

It was featured in the COBA Tour of Homes and earned Best of Show at the 2025 Tour—a warm Northwest contemporary home made for relaxed resort living among the pines and lava-rock landscape.

Inspired by a home on the Tour?

Start with Where You Want to Live.

The community and the property shape a home long before finishes are ever selected—the views, the light, the setbacks, and the pace of a place all steer the design. If a Tour home sparked something, begin with the setting. Here are the community guides Tour visitors reach for most.

We’ll see you next year

We’ll See You Next Year.

Sunrise is not on the Tour this year, but we’re already looking forward to opening the door to another remarkable custom home next year.

Until then, enjoy the Tour. Take notes. Ask questions. Notice the details that feel right—and the ones that do not. A great custom home begins with those observations and turns them into something deeply personal. When you are ready to begin that conversation, we would be glad to help.
